ENVIRONMENTAL

Leading through passion and technical expertise to create and sustain a healthy, prosperous and sustainable future for our people, clients, and the environment. We conduct our business consciously and responsibly, protecting the health and safety of our people and the environment

Climate change is one of the biggest global

challenges facing us today. The built

environment is responsible for as much as 40%

of global greenhouse gases annually, and the

construction industry must do its part. As a

responsible contributer to the infrastructure, we

are dedicated to improving the environmental

performance and resilience of our projects, our

operations, and our business – for our clients, our

communities, and each other.

As a citizen of our country with a dire pledge

to the Constitution of India , the SDGs make

our actions answerable to the people of

India. We have also committed ourselves to

decarbonizing the construction process.

Together with our clients and partners, we

continue to move the baseline – defining

and re-defining what it means to build green

by setting and achieving ever-more rigorous

standards.

CLIMATE ADAPTATION

SDG 2_page-0001.jpg

IN THE YEAR 2015, LEADERS FROM 193 COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD CAME

TOGETHER TO FACE THE FUTURE.

And what they saw was daunting, famines,

droughts, wars, plagues, poverty. Not just

in some faraway place, but in their own

cities and towns and villages. They knew

things didn’t have to be this way. They

knew we had enough food to feed the

world, but that it wasn’t getting shared.

They knew there were medicines for HIV

and other diseases, but they cost a lot.

They knew that earthquakes and floods

were inevitable, but that the high death

tolls were not. They also knew that

billions of people worldwide shared their

hope for a better future. So leaders from

these countries created a plan called the

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This set of 17 goals imagines a future

just 15 years off that would be rid of poverty

and hunger, and safe from the worst effects

of climate change. It’s an ambitious plan.

Hence we see climate adaptation as a critical component of our built future. We actively address acute and chronic weather impacts in our jobsite and project planning keeping in mind the global norms.

SDG 8

PROMOTE SUSTAINED, INCLUSIVE AND
SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH, FULL
AND PRODUCTIVE EMPLOYMENT AND
DECENT WORK FOR ALL

An important part of economic growth is that

people have jobs that pay enough to support

themselves and their families. The good news
is that the middle class is growing worldwide—

almost tripling in size in developing countries in

the last 25 years, to more than a third of the
population. But today, job growth is not keeping

pace with the growing labour force. Things don’t

have to be that way. We can promote policies
that encourage entrepreneurship and job

creation. We can eradicate forced labour, slavery

and human trafficking. And in the end we can
achieve the goal of decent work for all women

and men by 2030.

   Innovation in Action

Our teams are actively monitoring resource consumption on projects of all types and sizes, identifying the top users of jobsite fuel, energy, and water. And we are putting that information to work, implementing reduction strategies such as electrifying our fleet, piloting hybrid and electric construction equipment, requiring all site lighting to be LED and banning vehicle idling

LEAN CONSTRUCTION

Lean is a philosophy that emphasizes the elimination of waste to create a smoothly flowing production process that produces only what is needed, when it is needed, and in the quantity needed.

Adopting a lean mindset, and applying lean management principles to existing practices results in many operational benefits. Such as

  • Reduced waste and costs

  • Improved customer satisfaction.

  • Increased productivity and efficiency

  • Improved quality and safety

  • Increased collaboration and communication

Lean construction improves efficiency, reduces waste, and increases productivity through streamlined processes, eliminating unnecessary steps, and effective resource utilization. Tools like value stream mapping, kanban, and 5S reduce costs and improve project and operational quality.

This is a process where work is only started when it is needed, rather than on a predetermined schedule. This helps to reduce unnecessary work and improve overall efficiency.

Kanban is a visual system for managing workflow, where work is represented by cards or tokens. This helps to make the workflow more visible and allows for real-time adjustments to be made.

This is a system that uses pull planning and Kanban to manage workflow and improve collaboration between different teams

This is a system that focuses on maintaining and improving equipment and machinery to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.

INNOVATION

Pioneering advancements that will reinvent how we work, improve people’s lives, and shape the future of the industry. Innovation starts with an audacious vision and a willingness to explore beyond what is, into what could be.

Empowering People

We respond to our employee’s enthusiasm for finding new and better ways to build. We plan to do this by investing in our staff and culture through initiatives like annual Innovation Summit,  open Innovation Challenge program, Innovation Town Hall webinars, and through strategic engagements with our clients and partners, early-stage start-ups, entreprenuers, venture capital firms, and academic institutions.

  •  â€‹Advancing a Culture of Innovation

Our innovation teams employ various methodologies, including Lean Start-up, Problem Framing, Design Sprint, and Design Thinking, to facilitate methodical innovation. Problem Framing workshops help groups analyze and define opportunities for innovation. Design Sprint workshops bring key stakeholders and thought leaders together to ideate and prototype innovative solutions. These planned collaborative efforts jumpstart innovation and help our project teams and stakeholders overcome complex issues together.

BRISC'S planned annual companywide Innovation programme and  webinars to bring our people together with innovation leaders across industries to exchange ideas and learn about advances at BRISC'S, within the building industry, and beyond. More than forums to share ideas, these programs will act as catalysts to find, grow, and scale innovation, and inspire our staff to advance the future of work.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

We are sustaining the right environment where people can be at their best, be authentic, and are treated with dignity and respect. We want to reflect the communities in which we live and build and ensure our people feel a sense of belonging to flourish in their careers.

Our vision is to be as richly diverse as the communities in which we work. We know that a diverse and inclusive workforce – one in which our differences are celebrated and our common values unite us – makes us stronger.

We work every day to eliminate hate and bias from our industry.

We are making lasting change through education, engagement, and empathic leadership. We trust that if we communicate our high standards for what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior across all worksites, we will ensure that every worker is treated with respect and dignity.

Through partnerships like the Time for Change Consortium, we are collaborating with our peer general contractors to make our job sites physically and psychologically safe. We also freely share our anti-harassment and anti-bias resources with our trade partners and unions to encourage them to join us in this work.

Every action we take is rooted in what is best for our employees, for our communities, and for the many individuals that we partner with to change the skylines and footprints of cities across the world.

safety & wellness

Our workplace is “Our House.” In our house, we foster a caring environment, where every person has a sense of belonging and knows that they are contributing to something extraordinary

Respect for people has always been at the heart of

BRISC'S culture. BRISC understands the environmental, social, and economic impact of our activities and that it

is our responsibility to conduct business in a

transparent manner that supports established goals for

client service, environmental performance, and

employee health, safety, and wellbeing. Our core

values of integrity, teamwork and commitment guide

our activities and we expect the contractors with

which we do business to share our commitments.

Leading By Example

Recognizing that EH&S best practices will continue to evolve, we lead by example and serve as ambassadors for environment, health, safety, and sustainability. We will advocate for best sustainable practices on our projects and in our company operations and will educate our staff and inform our clients and the communities in which we work.

With a shared dedication to achieving our goals and delivering the highest quality service to our clients, we will continue to raise expectations and be recognized for having the best Environmental, Health, and Safety program in the industry

Our program strives to have increased involvement from those closest to the risk and the work during operational safety planning. As involvement and active participation increase, so does individual ownership of daily safety activities.

Ultimately by working this model consistently, it fosters a more well-rounded workforce that makes safe decisions, even when no one is watching, not only for themselves but also for others around them. The practice of safety evolves from a mandate to a value.

Safety

Empowering Our Workforce

We are creating and sustaining a culture which promotes an incident-free environment and provides the safest workplace possible to live injury free every day.

Our safety-first approach is based on  Living Injury Free Everyday . Our program strives to eliminate worksite incidents and mitigate hazards through: operational safety pre-planning; shared EH&S standards and policies; mandatory inspections, training programs, and most importantly, by empowering of trade workers.

Our efforts are guided by these key safety principles:
- All injuries are preventable.
- Coach and practice safe behavior.
- Engage with teams to properly plan work.
- Perform a task only if it is safe.
- Speak up and stop work if there is an unsafe
condition or safer way to perform a task.

Health & Wellness

BRISC is committed to the health and wellness of all team members through an active caring model that promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Each of our project sites and offices is to have a Health and Wellness program.

The purpose of these programs is to offer team members comprehensive health services and ensure they have prompt access to quality care. In support, we will provide information and resources that educate and encourage the total well-being of our employees and their families.

We firmly believe a wellness-oriented environment encourages workers to adopt habits and behaviors that promote better health, a safe work site, and improved quality of life. It’s our mission to cultivate a work environment where employees will look forward to doing their job and doing it well.
